The process of increasing rubber plasticity is called plasticizing. Rubber has plasticity in order to be evenly mixed with various compounding agents during mixing; Easy to penetrate into the textile during calendering; It has good fluidity when pressing out and injecting. In addition, plastic refining can also make the properties of the rubber uniform, which is convenient to control the production process. However, excessive plastic refining will reduce the strength, elasticity, wear resistance and other properties of vulcanized rubber, so the plastic operation needs to be strictly controlled. Rubber plasticity is usually expressed in Williams' plasticity, Mooney viscosity, and Dever hardness.

1. Open the mill for plasticization

Its advantages are that the plastic compound material has good quality and small shrinkage, but the production efficiency is low and the labor intensity is large. This method is suitable for factories with many changes in rubber materials and low glue consumption. Open mill plastic smelting belongs to low-temperature plasticization. Therefore, lowering the temperature of the rubber to increase the force is the key to the molding of the mill. Equipment characteristics and process conditions related to temperature and mechanical action are important factors affecting the effect of plasticizing.

2. Mixer molding (high temperature, intermittent)

The production capacity of the mixer is large, the labor intensity is low, and the power consumption is small; However, because it is a closed system, it is difficult to clean, so it is only suitable for occasions with few changes in rubber types. The structure of the mixer is more complex, and the raw rubber is subjected to shear stress and friction between the rotor and the cavity wall in the mixing chamber, and the external pressure of the upper top bolt on the other hand.

3. Screw machine molding (high temperature, side continuation)

Screw molding is characterized by continuous molding at high temperatures. In the screw plasticizer, on the one hand, the raw rubber is subjected to strong stirring effect, on the other hand, due to the friction between the raw screw and the inner wall of the barrel, a large amount of heat is generated, which accelerates the oxidative cracking.
